ECHOES OF THE PAST

A picture perfect morning.  A dead woman washes onto the beach.

Echoes of the Past

Suspense Romance Novel

Kathleen Donaghue’s summer research trip to Wales turns upside down in that horrible moment when she finds the body. Without warning, the intrigue surrounding the victim sucks her into an eddy of unanswered questions. Who was she? How did she come to be washed ashore? Was it murder?

That night, an enigmatic stranger arrives at her hotel, and with a brief encounter, he sets her trouble radar on alert.  A man to be avoided.  Only he seems to go out of his way to find her as their paths continue to cross.  The more Kathleen tries to pull away, the more fate shoves her closer.

Through her growing fears, Kathleen wonders if she is tangled in a mystery that might endanger her life.

The first book in a series of international romantic suspense novels, Echoes of the Past is set in present-day North Wales with an American Rose Abroad.

About the Book

North Wales is a place close to my heart. I’ve visited several times. If there’s one place on Earth that feels like home, it’s the area around Harlech. So I wanted to set this story in that general area. North Wales has a certain wildness to the land, but it is so extraordinarily beautiful that it takes the breath away. I wanted to capture some of that in this book. However, the story itself is a mix of the Welsh identity, the old Wales meeting the newer Wales. It’s a place where old ways and the Welsh language remain although the younger people are moving into the future.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rene Averett writes under Riona Kelly for her suspense romance and (soon) cozy mystery novels.

She hails from the southwestern United States, where she was raised until 21, then she migrated to California.  She lived there for several years before moving back east all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada, and eventually relocated north to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She enjoys painting, drawing, music, and living an uncomplicated life while serving the needs of her feline companions.  She’s a fan of figure skating and has skated herself, although not in a professional capacity.  Writing is a passion so like it or not, she will continue to produce more books.
